Dear LGBTIQ Community - Eugene/Springfield:
As many of you are aware, the Q organization is in transition. The current board has been keeping the Q Center space open as well as we could, keeping hope alive as long as possible. Unfortunately, we do not currently have enough funds to keep the physical space open. At our last meeting on December 6th, we voted to give our notice to vacate the Lincoln St. address as of December 31st, 2009.
At this meeting Julie Weismann (of QueerEugene.com), stepped up to the board's invitation to serve as their new president. She is committed to honoring the original mission and vision of the Q to create a permanent community center. The board recognizes that in order to realize this dream, we need a larger facility to accommodate more groups. We also want to form coalitions with other community organizations. The current space, as you know, is simply too small to accommodate more than one group at a time. We have decided that in order to make the vision of an adequate Q Center a reality, we need to be focusing our financial and organizational energy toward this goal.
We are excited about the new leadership provided by Julie to make this plan a reality. With more partnerships with currently existing groups and organizations into an LGBTIQ coalition we can combine resources toward creating a center able to serve our large and varied community. We will be reaching out to you over the next few months to explore new and more dynamic relationships between the Q and and our community.

In the meantime please save the date for this years' Annual Meeting on January 21st, 2010, in EWEB s meeting room. All are encouraged to attend. We will be discussing some of the ideas for the future and your input is invaluable, we want to ensure that we are moving in the right direction. We hope to see you there.
