YOUTH ACTION BOARD (YAB)
What Is THE YAB?
YAB is an acronym for the Youth Action Board. YAB meets weekly and is a place where young people can be active leaders in making change in the Eugene community. YAB works with the Positive Youth Development Initiative to strengthen positive use of free time, positive self-expression and community engagement for all youth in Eugene.
Who can participate in the YAB?
If you are between the ages of 15-24 you are welcome to participate in the YAB! YAB participants come from all walks of life but they have in common the desire to make Eugene a great community for youth.
How much does it cost to participate in the YAB?
There is no cost to participate in the YAB. It's FREE!
What are the benefits for participating in the YAB?
YAB members who participate on a regular basis are able to make a difference in the community, learn valuable leadership skills, and meet new people. The experiences that you gain at YAB can also be used as community service credits or on a resume/job application. Finally, dedicated YAB participants are eligible for a small stipend.
What kinds of things does the YAB do?
The projects and activities we do are really up to you! The goal of YAB is to get youth issues known in the community and to act upon those needs to make Eugene a great place for youth. Current projects include:
Ø Youth Celebration
Ø Multi-media leadership workshops
Ø Mayoral Youth Council
With all the different people involved, we'll make sure that we have fun in whatever we do!

Family CampOUT - Aug 14-17
Summer Camp for LGBTQ families
Family CampOUT (this camp is sponsored by Portland YWCA the actual camp is near Lincoln City on the coast)
CampOUT is dedicated to Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender parents and their children. Westwind brings together a unique, supportive community to enjoy a quality family experience. There will be opportunities to hike, sing by a campfire, create treasures at the craft house, wade in the ocean, go for a trail or corral ride, paddle a canoe and enjoy the beauty of Westwind.
Who: Children ages 3 and above and parents of all ages
When: August 14 - 17
