Gay men's chorus forming
Bob asked me to help him get the word out to see if there is enough interest in the area to form a gay men's chorus based in Eugene. Here is his post:
It would be open to any gay men in Lane county and surrounding counties. A top-knotch professional choral conductor has already volunteered his services.
I'm open to ideas on how to do this. Prior music-reading and singing experience is preferred, but these will be taught as the chorus learns its music, so anyone can join. This would be a volunteer group with no fees or dues. As it forms, a day and time for a weekly 2-hour rehearsal will be determined by the group.
The purpose of the group is to enjoy singing and share that joy with the community through our performances. The group will also be an avenue for forming new friendships and socializing. Such "community" choruses sing at special events, give concerts and sometimes tour. Most cities have a gay men's chorus, some have more than one!
